Maybe we’re onto something here…

So, I did sleep better when I didn’t take the herbal remedies at night, so I think I will continue that and see how it goes.

I’ve continued researching candidiasis and it is sounding quite likely.  I’ve read story after story of people who, just like me went back and forth to the doctor with no resolution.  Some of them were told they’d need to learn to live with their issues!  Come to think of it, I’ve been told that more than once.

If you trace my health history back a few years, to the possible real beginning of my health problems, I have nearly ALL of these symptoms.

Here’s some of my symptoms:

  • headaches or migraines
  • excessive fatigue
  • cravings for alcohol, bread or sweets
  • anxiety
  • yeast infection
  • mood swings
  • abdominal gas and bloating, diarrhea, constipation, indigestion, acid reflux
  • acne
  • depression
  • sinus inflammation
  • cognitive impairment, poor memory, learning difficulties, inability to think clearly or concentrate
  • muscle weakness
  • irritability
  • sensitivity to fragrances and/or other chemicals
  • sore throat  or earaches

The ones I find most compelling are the cognitive issues and the sensitivity to fragrances and chemicals.  Both of which I have had for the duration of these recurring sinus infections.  And I found the smell sensitivity particularly odd.

Possibly more important than all the symptoms that I have or have had though, are a few of the causes of candidiasis:

  • Antibiotics
  • Sugar (Bread & Alcohol convert to sugar in your digestive system)
  • Worms and Parasites

I’ve been on multiple rounds of antibiotics over the last  10mos.  I love bread and the more sedentary I’ve become due to illness, the more I’ve snacked on bread.  I’ve also had cravings for alcohol (and a predisposition to overindulge for seeming no reason) which I’d never had previously.  And as I mentioned in an earlier post, the holistic doctor diagnosed me with an intestinal parasite (trematode), which I just recently overcame.  Maybe that’s where all this started?  Apparently it’s almost impossible to get trematode parasite in the US.  However, in October, I went to the Bahamas for a friend’s wedding.  If we assume my first illness (bronchitis, which since I’ve had more sinus infection-like symptoms and no coughing or lung problems) was a coincidence (I was exposed to bronchitis while on vacation in October), then the October trip to the Bahamas and the resulting parasite infection may be the origination of this whole health crisis.  Since then, the rounds of antibiotics and my uninformed diet may have just compounded the issue.

Sounds like a working theory to me.  Here’s to hoping the cures are effective.  Time for more research 🙂

Yawn, is it working yet?

I’m still researching candidiasis. There is a lot of information out there. And I’m not being aiding by the fact that I did not sleep at all last night. I assume one of the herbal remedies from the SM homeopathic pharmacy kept me up. I looked at the ingredients and one contains ginseng. Perhaps that’s the problem. Anyway, I have had sleeplessness and insomnia for years, so even one bad night of sleep kills me. So, I’m going to change the dosing schedule and try only taking these in the morning. The doctor at the homeopathic pharmacy told me to take 3 of each twice a day. I’m going to only take them in the morning and see how that goes. Hopefully I’ll get some sleep and get back to researching candidiasis.

Maybe the answer is at the Homeopathic Pharmacy?

When I went back to the holistic doctor, he told me the intestinal parasite was cleared up, but he had no idea why I was still sick.  He had previously sent me to the Santa Monica Homeopathic Pharmacy to get probiotics.  While I was there I noticed they had a doctor on staff consulting.  So, I headed back over there and told her I had reoccurring sinus infections.  Without hesitation, she said Candidiasis and walked me over to 2 different herbal remedies, Candicid Forte and Sinatrol.  She also told me Coconut Oil was very helpful.  So, I bought the 2 herbal remedies and went home to commence the regime as well as the research.  As I began the research, I also ordered some Coconut Oil capsules from Amazon.  I may as well try the full “cure.”  Hopefully cure is what it becomes.
